July 22, 2021 - SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Frank Bigelow honored Dianne Fritz on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, as the 5th District’s Woman of the Year for 2021 at her Happy Burger Diner.

Each year, the California Women’s Legislative Caucus sponsors and hosts the event in Sacramento to honor women from around the state for all they do in their communities. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the State Assembly was unable to hold the ceremony, but today the Assemblyman was able to give Dianne Fritz the award she deserved.

“Dianne has been remarkable in Mariposa County,” stated Assemblymember Bigelow. “Even through the pandemic, her witty sense of humor and problem-solving capabilities managed to lift an entire community’s spirits. She truly is one of a kind.”

Dianne and her husband (Greg) created the Happy Burger Diner in 1995 where they made it a place for people to go spend quality family time and enjoy a freshly cooked meal. Family and community engagement are both things Dianne is passionate about. In her free time Dianne enjoys spending time with her children Darci, Joshua, Vikki and Elissa and their spouses along with her grandchildren. Not only is she a great cook, but her hobbies include needle crafts and sewing.

Dianne’s community involvement over the years includes: Mariposa County Board of Supervisors and Vice-Chair for Mariposa County Local Transportation Commission. Projects such as the Yosemite West Community Planning and Recreational Sports Complex. Helped with the Flood Disaster in March of 2005 and Ferguson Rockslide Disaster in 2006 and fought the closure of the Mount Bullion Youth Conservation Camp.

“Dianne Fritz’s commitment to her community has not gone unnoticed. She is an inspiration to those around her and Mariposa has benefited and become a better place with her in it. I am truly thankful to call Dianne a friend and I am honored to present this award to her,” said Assemblymember Bigelow.

Lifelong rancher Frank Bigelow proudly represents the 5th Assembly District, which encompasses Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Placer, and Tuolumne counties and includes Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park.
