July 23, 2021 - On the afternoon of Thursday July 22, 2021, the Madera County Sheriff’s Communication’s Center received a call for service for an adult male who had slipped and fallen from the falls into the water below. A passing hiker heard the man calling for help and contacted emergency personnel.

MCSO Deputies, SAR team members, CALFIRE, and Sierra Ambulance responded to the area. Due to the nature of his injuries and location of the incident, California Highway Patrol Helicopter “H-40” was requested to do a hoist rescue. The injured man was retrieved from the falls and delivered to an awaiting ambulance at the scene.

Sheriff Tyson Pogue reflects, “We are grateful for the successful outcome of this rescue. It takes seamless teamwork to effectively execute these incidents, and we appreciate the partnership and collaborative efforts between our regional allied agencies.”
