August 20, 2021 - On Thursday, August 19, 2021, deputies from the Merced County Sheriff's Office Investigation's Bureau and STAR Team served a search warrant in the 2700 Block of Atwater Boulevard in Atwater in response to a shooting that took place in Winton.

During the execution of the search warrant investigators found a loaded 9mm handgun in a hidden compartment in the dirt driveway under a lawnmower. Inside the lawnmower bag investigators discovered ammunition for the gun and approximately half a pound of marijuana.
