December 4, 2021 – Merced – On December 1, 2021, at 10:44 A.M. Merced PD Detectives served a search warrant at a residence on W. 21st Street in the city of Merced after receiving 
a tip that someone at the residence was creating child pornography.
Detectives identified and arrested Rey Isaiah Romero (23) of Merced for creating child pornography, possession of child pornography and other sexual abuse charges. Investigators also identified Romero’s minor victim who was depicted in the pornography and was additionally determined to be a victim of continuous sexual abuse by Romero.
Romero was booked into the Merced County Jail for continuous sexual abuse with a child under 14, oral copulation, sexual penetration with a child under 14, possession or child pornography and creating child pornography.
