MCHS seniors Tierney Pretzer and Laura Shenk were this year’s Soroptimist International of Mariposa Scholarship recipients.  Tierney Pretzer was awarded the Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and involvement in school and community activities.  Laura Shenk is the 2014 Elinor Rollston Memorial Scholarship recipient.  This scholarship honors deceased Mariposa Charter Club member Elinor Rollston.  It is awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement with a special emphasis on service to the school and community. 

Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.  In addition to participating in international projects, the Mariposa Club achieves this mission locally by giving scholarships to graduating seniors, presenting monetary awards to women that are the heads of their households seeking further education, and donating funds and services to organizations such as Ethos Youth Center, Manna House, Mountain Crisis and Heritage House.  For more information about Soroptimist International of Mariposa, contact Dianne Fritz at (209) 769-1451, visit us on-line at: http://simariposa.org or find us on Facebook.
