State of Emergency Update from Sheriff Jeff Dirkse 

May 3, 2023 - Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that recreation on the river is strongly discouraged due to swift and unpredictable river flows.

We have made multiple river rescues already and we advise residents to keep in mind the potential danger of river recreation during this time. These strong currents could significantly impact the ability of first responders to safely rescue people who become stranded on the river.
