June 20, 2023 - West Point - The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with Calaveras County Probation, has apprehended a probationer in possession of illegal drugs and illegal possession of a firearm.

On Monday, June 12th, 2023, law enforcement officials from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office and Probation Department conducted a search as part of a condition of release for Michael Evans at his place of residence in West Point, CA.  During the search, law enforcement discovered over 38 grams of methamphetamine, a .45 caliber handgun hidden within his room, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

Michael Evans, a 58-year-old resident of West Point, CA, has been taken into custody without incident and is now facing multiple charges, including possession of illegal drugs, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, and violation of probation.  This case is still under investigation.
