August 4, 2023 - Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they have been made aware of another phone scam that's circulating through our county. The caller claims to be a Deputy from our agency and states that money is needed in order to avoid an arrest warrant.

We’d like to remind you that the Sheriff's Office would never call regarding an arrest warrant or ask for any money over the phone. If you receive one of these phone calls, we encourage you to contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
