SCAM ALERT: Man Impersonating Deputy Over the Phone... AGAIN
August 10, 2023 - Tulare County Sheriff’s Office officials report that deputies received a report from a woman who said she received a call from a man claiming to be a Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Deputy.
The caller told the woman she had a bench warrant for missing jury selection, and she needed to pay him $500 loaded onto a pre-paid debit card.
The woman didn’t fall for it and neither should you!
REMINDER: Deputies do not serve arrest warrants over the phone nor do they collect fines. If they have a warrant for your arrest, they will come knock on your door.
If you get a phone call from one of these phone scammers, here’s what you should do:
- Hang up.
- Never send money.
- Never give them your personal information.
- If you become a victim, contact law enforcement.
