December 31, 2023 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report on stats for over the past two years.

Being a homicide detective is one of the most difficult assignments in any department. We are proud of the justice our unit has delivered to families in the past two years.

The Sheriff’s Office has investigated 20 total homicides in 2023. 14 occurred in our county jurisdiction and we took over the investigations of six others from smaller police departments. Due to our latest double homicide, we had a total of 21 victims.

In 2023, we have solved 85% of the cases in our jurisdiction and 100% of the cases in other jurisdictions.

In 2022, the Sheriff’s Office investigated 21 total homicides. 13 occurred in our jurisdiction. Eight cases were taken over from other jurisdictions. We had a total of 24 victims due to some incidents having multiple fatalities.

In 2022, we solved 83% of the cases in our jurisdiction and 65% of the cases in other jurisdictions.
