2/2/24 Update Per Mariposa County Sheriff's Office: Two Mariposa County High School Basketball Team Members Arrested for Multiple Sex Crimes, Head Coach Also Arrested
February 1, 2024 – On Wednesday, Mariposa County Unified School District Superintendent, Jeff Aranguena, issued a statement on the suspending of 
Mariposa High School Boys basketball activities.
Dear Mariposa County Families and Community,
On January 30th, I made the challenging decision to suspend all Mariposa High School Boys basketball activities for the remainder of this week. I understand that this decision may bring disappointment and even heartbreak, especially for our dedicated athletes, their families, and our supportive community.
The suspension is in response to accusations that have been brought to our attention, and we are currently collaborating with local law enforcement and investigators to conduct a thorough investigation. To prioritize the confidentiality of the minor students involved, specific details of the allegations and the parties involved cannot be shared at this time.
The health, safety, and welfare of our students are always the District’s primary concern. As the investigation unfolds, our team is actively providing support services for those who might have been affected.
To maintain the integrity of the investigation, specific details will not be disclosed at this time. I will, however, stay in frequent communication with local law enforcement. When permitted, I will share additional details with the community.
