April 2, 2024 - Lyon County Sheriff's Office officials report the Sheriff's Office is excited to announce the introduction of our Feline Unit!

After years of successful implementation of the K-9 Unit, the Feline Unit will now join them in the field starting this week.

Preliminary research and testing has also demonstrated that using feline deputies for missions where their size, agility, and speed are crucial - such as pursuing suspects in small and difficult spaces - yields promising results.

An all-feline team also offers additional advantages, such as a reduction in cost for rodent and pest control and additional supervision of K-9 Unit deputies.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office believes this new unit will prove to be a great addition to the agency, and can't wait for you to see our new unit in action!
