Proactive Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Firearm
July 29, 2024 – Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Friday, July 26, 2024, deputies with our Proactive Street Crimes Unit in Patterson conducted a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a firearm. During the routine stop, deputies encountered a juvenile who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. As part of their thorough investigation, K9 Hondo alerted K9 handler Silva to the vehicle's center console. Deputies then discovered a loaded, unserialized firearm within.
The juvenile was taken into custody and subsequently booked into Juvenile Hall.
Our K9s are invaluable assets in this profession, as their specialized training to detect firearms and drugs significantly enhances the effectiveness of investigations and the overall safety of our communities.
