August 20, 2024 – Mariposa Fire Safe Council officials announce that they have been approved for two grants to reduce fuels to help build a defensible wildfire space around the John C. Fremont hospital and in Lushmeadows.

We are EXCEPTIONALLY EXCITED to announce that we were just awarded TWO wildfire prevention grants from Cal Fire!

One project will build a defense for the John C. Fremont Hospital by thinning vegetation on the adjacent land.

The second grant will continue clearing the “fuel islands” and overgrown vegetation between homes in the Lushmeadows area, working to prevent a domino of losses that could occur in a wildfire scenario.

The total value of grant dollars, which end up boosting our local economy, is $1,419,573.00!!!
