August 25, 2024 – CAL FIRE officials report that CAL FIRE’s Urban and Community Forestry Program is announcing funding for 20 Green Schoolyard Childcare Facility projects across California, awarded over $27 million in grant funding. This supports activities at 41 facilities statewide, complementing over $121 million in Green Schoolyard Grants awarded in 2023. These investments focus on underserved communities, creating healthier environments, and combating extreme heat, benefiting California's youngest population most impacted by climate change.
