August 27, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, officers from the Northeast Policing District responded to the Rite-Aid parking lot at 8027 North Cedar Avenue regarding a shooting victim. Officers arrived and located 19-year-old Aaliyah Bonman on the ground, suffering from a single gunshot wound to her upper body. Officers and EMS personnel provided first aid on the scene and transported her to St. Agnes Hospital for medical treatment. Bonman did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:33 a.m.

Homicide detectives began their investigation and learned that prior to the shooting, Bonman was in a physical disturbance with 21-year-old Penelope Mehr. During the fight, Mehr fired a handgun once at Bonman, killing her. Detectives also identified 18-year-old Nevaeh Solomon as the person who aided Mehr during the shooting.

On Sunday, August 25, 2024, undercover detectives located Mehr near the intersection of Second Street and Jensen Avenue, where she was taken into custody. Mehr was later booked into the Fresno County Jail for PC 187(a) – Murder.

Solomon is currently wanted by homicide detectives. A PC 32 – Accessory (felony) warrant has been issued for her arrest.
