October 13, 2024 – Tulare County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on October 12, 2024, just before 8:00 a.m., Deputies were called to Balch Park in Dogwood Meadow about a gunshot wound victim.
Witnesses said they saw the victim near his car when they heard a gunshot and saw him limp around his vehicle and got into the driver’s seat but never moved after that.
By the time nearby hunters got to the victim, he was deceased. Deputies arrived on scene and found Alaa Alset of Porterville, inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his groin area. Deputies also found hunting gear and firearms in the decedent’s vehicle, and it appeared he was there to hunt.
