Evacuation lifted for Oakhurst
Forward progress on the fire near Jean Rd has been stopped. All Evacuation Orders and Advisories are lifted. Road is open to residents only at this time.

Evacuation Shelter LOCATION CHANGE -- 

An evacuation Order for residents who live in the area of Jean Road East and West and Scott Drive are advised to evacuate immediately to the Oakhurst Senior Center at 39800 Road 425B. Take Road 426 to Road 425B and It will be on the right. There is a pre-evacuation advisory for Rd 222 in the Chepo Saddle Area and Old Coral Area.

September 5, 2014 - Evacuation Orders Sent to Jean Road East & Jean Road West in the Scott Drive Area 

Evacuation Order for Jean Road East and West and Scott Dr. Residents in this area are advised to evacuate immediately to the Oakhurst Senior Center at 39800 Road 425B. Take Road 426 to Road 425B and It will be on the right. There is a pre-evacuation advisory for Rd 222 in the Chepo Saddle Area and Old Coral Area.

There is a fire now burning in Oakhurst. At approximately 5:59 PM (Pacific Time) Smoke could be seen billowing from the Scott Drive/Jean Road West area. That is the same general location threatened by the Junction Fire last month.

As of 6:10 PM the fire was moving uphill. The most threatened area being, JEAN RD EAST AND WEST.

Structures are threatened. 

Traffic is being held at John West Road.

Sheriff’s Deputies are going door to door in the endangered areas assisting those in need.

As of 6:26PM deputies rushing to Road 222 and Road 274 area – near Bass Lake – fire now east of Old Corral area near Cheepo Saddle on Road 222.

Residents are being evacuated to the Coarsegold Community Center.

CAL Fire Has ordered immediate evacuations for: JEAN RD EAST; EAST OF SCOTT RD AND JEAN RD EAST

Madera County Sheriff’s COPs (Citizens on Patrol) are assisting with Road Closures. COPS UNITS are blocking access to traffic at RD 426 JOHN WEST ROAD

Cause of this fire is under investigation.
