October 24, 2024 - In the week ending October 19, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 227,000, a decrease of 15,000 from
the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 241,000 to 242,000. The 4-week moving average was 238,500, an increase of 2,000 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 236,250 to 236,500.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.3 percent for the week ending October 12, an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending October 12 was 1,897,000, an increase of 28,000 from the previous week's revised level. This is the highest level for insured unemployment since November 13, 2021 when it was 1,974,000. The previous week's level was revised up 2,000 from 1,867,000 to 1,869,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,860,750, an increase of 17,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 500 from 1,842,750 to 1,843,250.
