Arrests Made in Brutal Assault, Murder of Farmersville Man 

November 8, 2024 – Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024, TCSO Deputies were called to 29100 Block of Road 166 in Farmersville for a man lying on the ground and bleeding.

When Deputies arrived on scene, they found the victim, 25-year-old Angel Puga of Farmersville, suffering from blunt force trauma and a gunshot wound. Puga died on scene from his injuries.

During their investigation, Homicide Detectives learned that Puga was at a large Halloween party, when he was trying to leave and was confronted by a group of Northern gang members who began beating him. During the assault, the victim was shot and everyone ran away from the scene.

An autopsy was conducted and it was determined that Puga died from the blunt force trauma injuries, regardless of being shot. All suspects involved are now wanted for murder.

As a result of numerous search warrants and interviews, Detectives identified 20-year-old Landon Woods of Exeter, 18-year-old Eric Bullard of Tulare, 22-year-old Matthew Makert of Visalia, a 17-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys, as being responsible for Puga’s death.

In the early morning hours of November 7, 2024, multiple search warrants and arrests warrants were conducted by TCSO SWAT, with help from the Visalia Police Department, the Tulare Police Department, the Porterville Police Department, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, the Kings County Regional SWAT Team and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

As a result of the operation, the suspects were taken into custody and booked into the TCSO South County Detention Facility. The juvenile suspects were booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility for Homicide.
