November 25, 2024 - EVERETT, Wash. – Snohomish County Sheriff's Office report on Friday, November 22, Major Crime Unit (MCU) detectives arrested a 56-year-old Arlington man for the murder of 37-year-old Katie McQueen of Mariposa, California.

On August 20, 2024, deputies responded to reports of a suspicious death in the 11800 block of 84th St NE. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, a deceased 37-year-old female, at the scene. The nature of the incident appeared suspicious, and deputies requested that detectives respond to assist.

After a months-long investigation, the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab was able to obtain a positive DNA match, using a sample recovered from the victim’s body, to the 56-year-old Arlington man, who is not known to the victim.

During the investigation, detectives learned that there had been an altercation between the 37-year-old victim and the 56-year-old man, which led him to allegedly stabbing the 37-year-old victim in the neck. The information developed during the investigation and the interview of the 56-year-old man led to probable cause to arrest the suspect for second-degree murder.

This remains an active investigation.
