Deputies Arrest Man in Stolen Truck who Tied Up Traffic on Clovis Avenue
December 14, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that deputies have booked 28-year-old Dannie Rollins of
Fresno into jail. He faces charges of evading police, auto theft and resisting arrest. Rollins is currently under Post-Release Community Supervision, which is part of AB-109.
Friday afternoon, OnStar notified Fowler Police it had tracked a stolen Chevy pickup truck to the area of Adams and Temperance Avenues in Fowler. A sheriff's deputy spotted the truck in the area and attempted to make a traffic stop. However, suspect Rollins sped away, running stop signs, reaching up to 90 mph. The deputy quickly cancelled his pursuit of the truck and requested an air support search for it.
Our EAGLE One helicopter responded and found the vehicle driving towards Fresno. Deputies in the area began to follow the vehicle. OnStar, using a technology feature, disabled the truck's engine and caused it to slow down to around 5 mph. Rollins exited Highway 180 at Clovis Ave. and made an illegal turn that tied up traffic.
Deputies used their vehicles to block the truck from going any further. Rollins then tried to reverse the truck. Deputies and officers with the California Highway Patrol were able to remove Rollins from the vehicle. Rollins initially resisted their efforts to handcuff him, but was ultimately detained. No deputies or officers were injured.
