January 12, 2025 - Los Angeles, California – Governor Gavin Newsom on Saturday announced additional international support from Mexico’s firefighting resources, increasing the already robust capacity of first responders on the ground. More than 70 firefighters and disaster relief workers from the National Forestry Commission and Ministry of Defense in Mexico today have arrived in Los Angeles to augment the capacity of local efforts.

Specifically, the firefighters will form handcrews to assist in firefighting operations, working with the state’s now 14,000 personnel, including firefighters, guard service members, highway patrol officers and transportation teams to support the ongoing firefight.
