Friday Arrest for DUI and Felony Evading
January 20, 2025 – Sonora Police Department officials report that 70-year-old Timothy Michael Harrity of
Sonora was arrested on Friday for Felony Evasion, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving on a Suspended License for prior DUIs.
On Friday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm, SPD officers were dispatched to the report of an intoxicated subject attempting to get into a vehicle on Shepherd Street. Our K9 unit arrived in the area as the vehicle matching the description was driving northbound from that location.
When the officer attempted a traffic stop on the 2016 Silverado pickup driven by Harrity, he failed to yield and led the officer in a pursuit eastbound on Lyons to southbound Greenley. During the pursuit, Hannity committed multiple driving violations, including driving onto the sidewalk, when he ultimately yielded south of the intersection of Morning Star Drive.
Fortunately, the incident concluded without anyone getting hurt, and Harrity was arrested without further incident.
It's important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they've been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. This principle is the bedrock of our legal system and should be respected by all.
