January 24, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff's Office officials report that a suspect Attempting to Flee US Arrested in Chicago- Kern County Sheriff logoOn November 24, 2024, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple juvenile victims allegedly sexually abused by 36-year-old Bryan Munoz. Munoz evaded law enforcement and fled Kern County during the initial investigation.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit pursued Munoz and discovered he had traveled to Chicago and booked a one-way flight to Mexico. Munoz booked the flight on January 15, 2025. An arrest warrant was issued, and detectives collaborated with Chicago Airport Police and Homeland Security to apprehend him just before boarding on January 16, 2025.

Munoz was charged with three counts of 288.7(a) Sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child, three counts of 288(a) Lewd or lascivious acts with a child, one count of 288.5(a) Continuous sexual abuse of a child, three counts of 667.61(a) One strike enhancement, and three counts of 667.61(e)(4) Multiple victim sex crime enhancement. Munoz is now awaiting extradition to Bakersfield, where he faces a $3.3 million bail.
