January 29, 2025 - Sierra National Forest officials report Bass Lake Ranger District (BLRD) Fire Crews will begin igniting 90 acres of large machine
piles near Benedict Meadow, today, Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The project is part of the Creek Fire reforestation effort and is expected to last two days with another 70 acres planned for ignitions on Thursday, Jan. 30. The project is a crucial step in preparing for seedlings planned for April or May of 2025.

Smoke is expected to be highly visible from both mountain and valley communities, especially near North Fork and Cascadel. Residents and visitors are advised to refrain from reporting controlled burn activity via the 9-1-1 emergency system and exercise caution when traveling near burn sites.
