Zip Gun (Improvised Firearm) Found on Convicted Felon During Traffic Stop in Colfax 

January 31, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Monday January 20th, a deputy noticed a Chevy pick-up truck driving with expired registration in Colfax. The driver was pulled over. While talking with the driver, 38-year-old Laura Massey, she admitted she had a hidden firearm. It was located under her arm, along with five 22 caliber rounds. 

Massey, a convicted felon, was booked into jail on three felonies related to the possession of the firearm and two misdemeanors.

The term “zip gun” refers to a firearm that was not made by a firearms manufacturer or gunsmith and in some cases is not immediately recognizable as a firearm (as you can see from the picture).
