TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures
Interstate 5 and State Routes 59 & 140
February 1, 2025 – MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5), and State Route 59 (SR-59), and SR-140 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:
INTERSTATE 5
- Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through May 31, 2025.
o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line).
STATE ROUTE 59
- One-way traffic control from South Ingalsbe Slough Bridge to Dana Slough for utility work on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
STATE ROUTE 140
- Long-term one-way traffic control at the Los Banos Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, August 5, at 6:00 a.m. through Monday, March 31, 2025, at 6:00 a.m.
- One-way traffic control at the San Joaquin River for bridge work beginning Monday, February 3, through Thursday, February 6, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Motorists should expect 5-10 minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to take place as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or construction related issues.
