Charges Filed Stemming from February 3, 2025, School Lockdown at Nevada Union High School
February 7, 2025 – Nevada County District Attorney’s Office officials report that they have filed charges against two individuals 
in connection with the incident that led to the lockdown of Nevada Union High School on February 3, 2025.
Following an extensive investigation, an 18-year-old student and a 17-year-old student have been taken into custody. Both individuals are charged with violations of Penal Code 422 (Criminal Threats) and Penal Code 182 (Conspiracy). The 18-year-old was expected to be arraigned on charges on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in the Nevada County Superior Court.
At this time, all evidence indicates that these two individuals were solely responsible for the threats, and there is no indication that any other persons were involved. The investigation remains ongoing, and our office - alongside our cybercrimes investigator and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office - continue to pursue justice and ensure the safety of our schools and community.
We recognize the concerns this incident has raised, and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable. We appreciate the diligence of law enforcement and the cooperation of the school district and the community in maintaining a safe learning environment.
