February 15, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on February 11, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Cristian Custodio-Aquino in Fresno. The 27-year-old was most recently living in Portland, OR, but is originally from Peru. He had an outstanding warrant for first degree murder. He remains in custody at the Fresno County Jail, pending extradition back to New Jersey.
On December 10, 2024, around 7:00 a.m., officers from the Cherry Hill (New Jersey) Police Department responded to the 100 block of Sharrowvale Road in Cherry Hill where they located an unconscious man, later identified as Dr. Michael Anthony, 45, of Cherry Hill. The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In the weeks that followed, detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Cherry Hill Police Department conducted an exhaustive investigation and identified Custodio-Aquino as the person responsible for the homicide. Detectives worked with the U.S. Marshals Task Force after developing leads that the suspect was staying in Fresno.
