February 18, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Sunday night, Southeast patrol officers responded to a call
of a domestic violence victim. Officers arrived and while standing outside the apartment’s closed front door, they heard crying coming from inside. An officer looked through a window and saw a male holding a large knife near the victim. Officers quickly devised a plan to force entry and protect the lives of the occupants inside. Once inside, officers were able to safely take the male suspect into custody and provided medical aid to the female victim.
There were three young children inside the apartment who were very upset and crying through the incident. Thanks to the Assistance League donation of Trauma Bears, officers were able to provide the children with teddy bears to comfort them in the situation.
The male suspect was arrested and booked into the Fresno County jail.
If you, or anyone you know, are a victim of domestic violence please call 9-1-1 in an emergency, (559) 621-7000 if you are actively safe, but need assistance, or reach out to the Marjaree Mason Center for additional resources.
