Lululemon Theft and Arrest 

March 28, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers from the Northwest Policing District responded to lululemon at 712 West Shaw Avenue regarding a theft that had just occurred. Employees reported that a male entered the store, began putting clothing into a bag, then fled outside to a car that was waiting for him.

As officers from the department’s Organized Retail Theft (ORT) team responded to the business, others began searching for the car. One of the ORT officers found the vehicle, which quickly drove into a residential neighborhood attempting to flee. The officer found it though, stopped the suspect vehicle and detained the two male occupants, 29-year-old Hector Garcia and 23-year-old Gavin Degroot. While officers conducted their initial investigation, a community member called in to report that someone from the vehicle the officers were after, had thrown a bag full of Lululemon clothing onto their lawn! Officers were able to recover the stolen property from that community member’s lawn. 

ORT officers were able to determine that both men drove to Lululemon. While Garcia waited in their getaway vehicle, Degroot went inside and stole the clothing. ORT officers and store employees estimate the value of the stolen property to be over $6,000.

The suspects, both of whom are on probation, have been booked into Fresno County Jail. Garcia is on probation for Domestic Violence charges, while Degroot is on probation for Grand Theft Person charges. Additionally, Degroot was wanted for a Probation Violation. Both have been charged with Felony Organized Theft, Grand Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft.
