April 12, 2025 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office officials report that following a series of commercial burglaries, the Madera County Sheriff’s Investigations Unit launched a comprehensive investigation and identified similarities as well as a specific crime pattern linking the incidents. During the course of their investigation, multiple search warrants were executed by MCSO, MADSET, and MADNET Detectives, and two subjects were ultimately taken into custody for crimes relating to 13 commercial burglaries within the County of Madera.

Detectives recovered 1 stolen pickup truck, 3 stolen Vespa Scooters, and 5 pickup truck loads of stolen property worth approximately $80,000. Multiple victims were contacted, and property was returned to them. 

Cody McGinnis, a 38-year-old Fairmead resident, was arrested for multiple felony charges including burglary, vehicle theft, and receiving stolen property. Luis Velasco, a 45-year-old Fairmead resident, was arrested for multiple felony charges including criminal conspiracy, burglary, and receiving stolen property. Both subjects are pending additional charges.

Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue remarks, “Those who think they can prey on our community and get away with it should think again. Our investigators put in the hard work to follow the evidence, track down the suspects, and recover thousands in stolen property. This kind of criminal activity won’t be tolerated in Madera County.”
