April 18, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on April 17, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of a subject that had a prior warrant for attempted murder on the 1700 block of Cheatham Avenue. Deputies received a report that the suspect was at Belle Terrace Park located on the 1100 block of East Belle Terrace. Deputies arrived at the park at 10:04 a.m. and attempted to contact the suspect. An officer involved shooting occurred. Deputies attempted life saving measures. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. No deputies were injured.

Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation.

Identity of the suspect will be released at a later date.

No further information will be released at this time. A video presentation to include body worn cameras and other relevant information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
