April 24, 2025 – The John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce it has contracted with Miranda Wass (pictured) to
perform Executive Administrator responsibilities, the Foundation’s first-ever support role.
"We are overjoyed to have Miranda on our team," said board president Heather Bernikoff. "Her experience and expertise will help us advance our philanthropy in this next chapter of the Foundation’s work. She is already helping the Foundation move forward with long desired activities, scaling our work beyond what we, as an all volunteer board, can now do."
"Having administrative support," continued Bernikoff, "will greatly increase the Foundation’s capacity to fulfill our mission of strengthening the rural communities of the John C. Fremont Healthcare District to maximize health through partnership and philanthropy. This is especially important as the Healthcare District works on building the new hospital. In addition to the new building, new furniture, equipment, and a variety of other things will be needed, which are not funded by the sales tax or other means. Miranda will be instrumental in helping the board meet this challenge."
Wass comes to the Foundation with a wide range of experience, successfully bidding on complex professional government Requests for Proposals (RFPs), which brought over $300,000 into Mariposa. She also assisted in the launch of the Mariposa Family Resource Center with tremendous success. Wass works as a consultant, supporting businesses and nonprofits with administrative functions. In addition to two associates degrees, she is pursuing her bachelor degree in business administration at Cal State East Bay.
"I am thrilled to combine my passion for community and professional skills to support the JCF Hospital Foundation and the Healthcare District," said Wass. "I am most excited to secure grant funding that supports education, the hospital, and the rural community. I am deeply honored to be selected for this role."
In the Executive Administrator position, Wass is supporting JCF Hospital Foundation board members Heather Bernikoff, president; Mike Wichmann, vice president; Jill Harry, secretary; Saralynn Nusbaum, treasurer; Anna Meijas, events committee co-chair; Megan Mickel, events committee co-chair; and Beth Tomsick, fundraising committee chair.
The JCF Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities by working together to achieve mutual health goals. The Foundation’s philanthropic partnerships with JCFHD and the communities it serves span over 40 years.
To make the organization even more robust, the Foundation continues to look for additional members.
