2023 Homicide Investigation 

June 5, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on October 31, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Northeast officers responded to the area of San Jose Avenue and Sherman Avenue following a report of gunfire and a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Ethan Vang near the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. Another 24-year-old male was found with a graze wound to his head. EMS and police administered first aid before both victims were taken to the hospital.

Ethan Vang’s condition worsened during transportation, and he passed away at Saint Agnes Hospital. The second victim received treatment for his graze wound at CRMC and was later discharged. The Homicide Unit took charge of the investigation following these events.

Two subjects wearing dark clothing were seen running from the scene following the gunshots. We are asking anyone with information to please call the Fresno Police Department.
