June 26, 2025 – Mariposa County Library officials share information on the libraries online access to The New York Times.

We have some good news to share about our library's online access to The New York Times. We had been receiving NY Mariposa library logoTimes access thanks to funding from the CA State Library. Not long ago, we had learned that we would lose access to it due to funding cuts.

However, the San Joaquin Valley Library System (which we are a member of) received a quote to provide systemwide access to The NY Times once the state library subscription ends on June 30th.

They received a good price. As of July 1, SJVLS will provide access to the same content that patrons could access through the State Library's subscription. In other words, we are not losing our subscription and patrons will be still able to access The NY Times through the link on our website: www.mariposalibrary.org.

Even better, the system subscription will be funded from the SJVLS Technology Plan, which is intended to target resources identified in a patron survey that went out a few years ago. That funding will cover at least the first year's subscription. There is no immediate financial impact or obligation for our library or other SJVLS member libraries.
