July 14, 2025 – Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office officials announce they are currently seeking proposals from organizations that can assist with immediate animal placement.

Our goal is to partner with any and all shelters, local or otherwise, that are willing to help find safe, caring homes for animals in need. This effort is about expanding our options when traditional shelters are at capacity.

We need to build a broader network made up of multiple shelters for support so no animal is left without a chance.

Notice of Request for Proposals (RFP) for Immediate Animal Placement

Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control is responsible for governing the care and keeping of domestic animals and livestock impounded pursuant to the California Food and Agriculture Code and local ordinance to maintain public safety and welfare. Mariposa County is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide guaranteed immediate placement services for up to 30 dogs and 10 cats per month. The vendor(s) will be responsible for the fostering and adoption of all animals received.

The vendor will be responsible for the intake of up to 30 dogs and 10 cats per month. The vendor will accept incoming animals within 48 hours of notification. The vendor will be responsible for fostering or adopting out all animals received from Mariposa County Animal Control.

Proposals will be received no later than Friday, August 15, 2025.

Selection will conclude on Monday, September 1, 2025, and selection will be made no later than Monday, September 8, 2025.

Cost Per Animal: Vendors will submit costs for intake per dog and per cat.

Each proposal must include:

• Company profile and relevant experience
• List of key personnel assigned to the management of their facility
• Cost estimate or fee schedule
• Proof of insurance and licenses (if applicable)
• Proof of 501(c)(3) documentation
