Shooting at Basso Bridge Leads to Arrest of Armed Suspect
July 23, 2025 – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Monday, July 21, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting at Basso Bridge in Waterford. Upon arrival, deputies located Christopher Todd, a 43-year-old male, and Cody Todd, an 18-year-old male, both suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Christopher was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while Cody was treated at the scene by medical personnel.
Through investigation, deputies were able to positively identify the suspect as Jacob Gralnik, a 55-year-old male from La Grange. Due to the nature of the incident and the involvement of firearms, the Stanislaus County SWAT Team was activated.
Later that evening, Gralnik was located at his residence in La Grange. Initially uncooperative, he was taken into custody by SWAT after approximately two hours of negotiation. Patrol deputies and members of the SWAT Team jointly made the arrest without further incident. During the arrest, Gralnik was found to be in possession of several illegal firearms and illegal silencers.
Gralnik was booked into the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Public Safety Center on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, possession of firearms, possession of a silencer, obstructing an investigation, and an out of county arrest warrant.
The investigation is ongoing.
