July 26, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Saturday July 18, 2025, at 9:37 p.m., officers from the Southwest Policing District responded to CRMC regarding a walk-in victim who sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers located a scene in the area of Orange Avenue and Butler Avenue. Through the investigation officers learned that the victim had been shot by the rear passenger of a passing vehicle. He was transported to CRMC by a family member.

Detectives were able to identify the truck used in the shooting and video surveillance which clearly depicted the suspect and the victim interacting with each other inside the store.

On July 23, 2025, the SVB Tac Team located suspect Jose Salcido with his mother where detectives observed Salcido hand her a bag. Both subjects were detained in the parking lot and the bag was found to contain a loaded firearm. Detectives then responded to the residence to serve a search warrant where they located ammunition, additional evidence, and the vehicle used in the shooting.

Salcido was found to be a convicted felon. He was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for PC 664/187, 29800,12022.53,25400, and 26100.
