August 8, 2025 – Inyo County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 30, 2025, at approximately 11:05 a.m., the Inyo County Inyo County Sheriff Office logoSheriff’s Office received a request from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Bishop to locate a potentially reckless driver. The vehicle in question was described as a white Chevrolet SUV traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving between vehicles, and exhibiting erratic driving behavior. The SUV was last seen heading northbound on Highway 395, approaching the town of Lone Pine.

Deputies promptly initiated an extensive search along the route from Lone Pine to Division Creek. Near the intersection of Highway 395 and Fort Road, a deputy observed the SUV traveling northbound at an estimated speed exceeding 120 miles per hour. A traffic stop was conducted just north of Division Creek, where the vehicle complied and came to a halt.

This successful outcome was the result of close collaboration between the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, working together to keep our roadways safe.

Following investigation, the driver was arrested and subsequently booked into the Inyo County Jail. The driver faces multiple charges, including:

Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (CVC 23152(f))

Reckless Driving (CVC 23103(a))

Possession of an Open Container (CVC 23222(a))

Speeding Greater Than 100 MPH (CVC 22348(b))
