August 12, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on July 30, 2025, at 1:23 a.m., Southeast officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification in the area of Clay Avenue and 9th Street and found that a residence had been struck multiple times by gunfire. Officers located multiple spent casings at the scene and were able to gather surveillance footage which depicted a vehicle driving towards the victim's residence in reverse. A male got out of the vehicle and discharged multiple rounds at the victim's residence.
Felony Assault Unit detectives were able to identify 18-year-old Josiah Rodriguez as the shooter, who was found to be an active gang member and on active felony probation for Carjacking.
The Adult Compliance Team located Josiah Rodriguez and safely apprehended him. During a search of Rodriguez’s residence, the firearm was not located.
Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for shooting at an Inhabited dwelling and numerous firearm possession charges. The vehicle was also seized as evidence.
