9/10/25 Update Per Merced County Sheriff's Office: The pack of dogs were located under a pickup truck in 6600 block of Walnut Ave in Winton. The gang of dogs have been taken into custody by our Animal Services Officers.

September 10, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that Merced County Animal Services is currently working several cases involving seven medium sized dogs attacking cats and other small animals in the Winton area. The majority of these attacks have occurred in the Winton Way and Walnut areas and have occurred in the evening hours.

Please keep your small pets indoors at night until this situation has been resolved. We currently have several dog traps active in the area and are working to identify an animal owner and property.
