On Saturday, July 7, 2007 the 38th Annual Coulterville Fire Brigade Deep Pit BBQ was taking place at the County Park from noon to six. The meat was cut in 25lb. slabs, wrapped in aluminum foil, wrapped in wet burlap bags and then placed in a pit of Oakwood ashes for many hours as people started arriving at the park.
With weather that was very cooperative along with nice shady trees, games were played, folks were dunked, music was played and a lot of mingling among new and old friends as the beef slowly cooked!
As the beef was sliced up (557 lbs total) people who purchased raffle tickets listened for their number to be called and all proceeds went to the fire department.
