Intersection Crash Leaves Two Seriously Injured
October 9, 2025 – Madera CHP officials report that on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at approximately 4:37 a.m., CHP Madera officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles, at the intersection of Avenue 25 and Road 9.
A preliminary investigation indicates the following:
A 35-year-old man from Manteca, CA, was driving a gray 2020 Volvo, pulling an enclosed trailer, traveling northbound on Road 9, approaching the intersection at Avenue 25. A 38-year-old woman from El Nido, CA, was driving a gray Toyota Corolla, eastbound on Avenue 25, approaching Road 9. At this location, traffic on Avenue 25 has the right-of-way and traffic on Road 9 is controlled by posted stop signs.
The driver of the Volvo failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection, directly into the path of the Toyota. The Toyota collided with the left side of the Volvo’s trailer and became lodged underneath. The driver of the Toyota and the right front passenger (22-year-old man from El Nido) suffered major injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center – Fresno. The driver of the Volvo was not injured, and all parties involved were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this crash.
Stop signs are not suggestions. They are life-saving reminders. Always come to a complete stop, look both ways, and proceed only when it is safe to do so.
