October 23, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that on October 12, 2025, at 7:04 P.M. (1904 hours), Deputies were dispatched to a business in the 7100 block of North Winton Way in Winton for a report of a shooting. When Deputies arrived on scene, they located evidence that a shooting had taken place. The victim was in their vehicle during the time of the incident and was nearly struck by the gunfire. The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.

Detectives began following up on the case and identified the shooter as a 15-year-old male juvenile. An arrest warrant was issued for the juvenile, and he was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile was booked at juvenile hall for attempted murder.
