Special Notice – CalFresh

October 24, 2025 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services officials announce that they have received notice that the November CalFresh benefits will likely be delayed as the federal government shutdown continues. Any benefits issued prior to yesterday are still available for use and will not be removed from EBT cards.

We know that the impacts from the Government Shutdown have greatly impacted our community already, and that this delay in benefits is concerning. We are actively working with our state and federal partners to stay updated on the situation and will share any new information as it becomes available.

Some food banks may experience funding challenges during the freeze; however, the Merced Food Bank participates in a state-supported program and will continue distributing food as supplies allow.

Manna House is funded through community donations and private contributions, so it will also remain open and continue serving the public throughout the freeze, as long as food supplies are available.

At this time, the Senior Center meal program is not expected to be impacted by the freeze. Residents are encouraged to visit for lunch but will need to call ahead to make a reservation. Suggested contribution for seniors (60+) is $4.00; Non-seniors will be charged a $6.00 fee. To reserve a meal, please call 209-742-7182. For more information, please call 209-966-6632.

Please visit www.cafoodbanks.org for other resources, or call 1-209-966-2000 for case specific questions, all non-CalFresh members may call and ask for Information & Referral.
