Homicide Investigation 

December 24, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Southwest Patrol District officers responded to the area of Poppy Avenue and California Avenue regarding a shooting victim.  Officers located a male adult suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced the victim, 24-year-old Faustino Mancilla, deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives identified 23-year-old Estevan Diaz as the suspect in the case. Diaz was arrested on Friday, December 19, 2025, and booked into the Fresno County Jail for Murder. Although an arrest has been made, we are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Fresno Police Department Homicide Detectives A.
