Homicide Investigation and Arrest in Kern County 

January 13, 2026 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on January 11, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 5200 block of Olive Tree Court in response to reports of a stabbing victim. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from apparent stab wounds. Medical and fire personnel provided aid; however, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed the investigation.

Later that evening, at approximately 8:00 p.m., deputies located Paul Parra, age 46, in the area of Brundage Lane and Chester Avenue. Parra was taken into custody without incident and arrested for homicide.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office at a later date.
