February 2, 2026 – Oakhurst, CA – Yosemite Sierra Artists is hosting the sixth annual international Visions of Self Juried art exhibition for female artists, which will debut in March 2026 to coincide with Women’s History Month. The first of its kind in the Tri-County Area, Visions of Self portrays both the internal and external landscapes of women’s lives. Some of the images are literal self-portraits, some are imaginative representations of emotion, environment, or aspects of women’s daily lives.
The show invites women from around the world to share their vision of self by submitting art to the show. How have world events of the last few years affected individual lives? How have they changed our relationships, our hopes and dreams for the future? How have they strengthened and motivated us? According to Brene’ Brown, “Art has the power to render sorrow beautiful, make loneliness a shared experience, and transform despair into hope.”
Submissions for the Visions of Self show are open through Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Visions of Self was created during the Covid lockdown of 2020 when a local Yosemite arts group couldn’t conduct in-person exhibitions and sought alternative ways to share their members’ work. At the same time, members Wendy Denton and Jennifer Moss envisioned a show dedicated to women’s voices—and Visions of Self was born. What they didn’t expect was a global female phenomenon, drawing hundreds of submissions from women around the world and representing the female experience across 14 countries.
Visions of Self is a virtual exhibition which will debut online on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at: MettaGallery.com to coincide with women’s history month. An in-person show with works from local Visions of Self also opens on March 1st at Oakhurst Spirits in Oakhurst, California. Judges this year will be multimedia artist Carolynne Gamble and artist and art educator Michele Chmielewski.
